TDK-Lambda has launched the CPFE500 range of baseplate-cooled power supplies capable of providing 500 W without the need for fan cooling.
With an extended temperature range (-40°C to +85°C) this range of AC-DC power supplies are targeted at engineers who need high power but cannot use fans, or where the unit is sealed in an enclosure.
The power supply is available with protective coating to protect against the ingress of dust, moisture and other contaminants, making the CPFE500 well suited for harsh, dusty or outdoor applications, such as broadcast, food processing, LED signage, COTS military, and print and packaging applications. Since there is no fan, it is also suited to low audible noise applications, such as audio mixing desks and recording studios. All models in the CPFE500 range are delivered with a two-year warranty and meet EN55022/EN55011 Class B and MIL STD 461/462D CE102 EMC specifications.
These single-output power supplies are available in 12 V, 28 V or 48 V d.c. versions. Up to ±20% output voltage adjustment is possible, enabling them to be used in a variety of customer specific bulk power applications. With its extended temperature range and lightning surge capability (up to 6 kV), the CPFE500 is both rugged and reliable. Efficiency of up to 88% ensures heat dissipation is minimised. Operating from a universal input of 90 to 265 V a.c. with PFC, the CPFE500 can operate both in series or parallel with built in ORing diode and active current share as standard. A power-on signal, remote on/off and remote sense are included.
