nanoETXexpress 2.0 specification released
2 February 2011
News
The nanoETXexpress Industrial Group has published the new nanoETXexpress 2.0 specification for credit card-sized COM Express ultra computer-on-modules (COMs). With the new revision, ultra-sized COMs now address the requirements of new and highly compact applications based on SFF processors even more explicitly.
The nanoETXexpress specification 2.0 incorporates the entirety of the changes of the COM Express specification rev. 2.0 that affect the ultra standard. Thus the reworked specification also continues to follow 1:1 the only manufacturer-independent standard for COMs. If a carrier board is designed for nanoETXexpress, it is consequently always developed in a way that is also COM Express compatible.
According to the nanoETXexpress Industrial Group, the most important innovation of the new nanoETXexpress specification 2.0 is the enhancement of the new pin-out type 10, making it the ideal basis to implement latest processor platforms such as the Intel Atom E6xx processors. To meet the need for future functions, the new revision type 10 pin-outs integrate SDVO, display ports, serial ports and more into the current specification, thus enhancing the flexibility of the COM-Ultra form factor.
