EXFO adds ODU0 and ODUflex capabilities

EXFO announced the addition of full ODU0 and ODUflex capabilities to its next-generation 10G and 40G Transport Blazer test module series for packet optical transport.

ODU0 provides the new mapping for the transport of 1 Gbps Ethernet signals with multiplexing capability up to 100 GB. ODU0 allows for OTN networks to be backward-compatible with industry installed base and is optimised for Gigabit Ethernet clients and transport of client signals with a rate below 1,238 Gbps.

In addition, the ODUflex capability brings benefits to operators, including higher efficiency for network configuration and bandwidth allocation, providing a future-proof solution for the transport of any client signal at any rate. It enables technology shared by network equipment manufacturers, service provider labs and field-testing crews, and is instrumental in deploying next-generation packet optical transport networks.

The new ODU0 and ODUflex capabilities are available as a software option for all Transport Blazer OTN test modules, including the FTB-8120NG/NGE, FTB-8130NG/NGE and FTB-8140. In addition to the FTB portable form factor that is targeted at field testing, these functionalities are available in the IQS rack-mount form factor (IQS-8120NG/NGE, IQS-8130NG/NGE and IQS-8140) for lab verification.
