Humidity measurement probes

Test & Measurement
Action Instruments has introduced Rotronic’s HygroClip2 series of humidity measurement probes with active intelligence.
The new AirChip3000, which forms the core of the HygroClip2, is able to analyse, diagnose and alert. Its capabilities include compensating humidity and temperature at 30 000 reference points, recording 2000 data points and calculating the dew/frost point. It is in itself a measuring computer because it consists of an ASIC, microcontroller and an EEPROM memory. In addition, the sensor has been improved upon and the AirChip3000’s intelligence enables advanced sensor diagnostics. Should the RH sensor deviate from factory defined parameters, measurement values can be automatically corrected and an alarm triggered.
The HygroClip2 can be used as a simple climate probe for measuring ambient conditions, or as a more sophisticated cable probe for high temperatures and other special uses. It is able to store valuable information which can be retrieved for analysis and audit purposes. It can function either as a standalone device or will easily integrate into an OEM application. It works with almost all analog and digital systems.
HygroClip2 provides reproducibility and a guaranteed system accuracy of <0,8% RH and 0,1°C. Its thermal response times have been significantly improved and new filter technology provides a high level of protection for the sensor against environmental influences. The probe’s operating temperature range extends up to 200°C.
The probe is already being successfully utilised by the following South African clients: ABB, Aspen Pharmaceuticals, Gubbs and Inggs, Industrial Thermodynamics, Labcal Solutions, Munters, Rovac Engineering, Steren Support Systems and the University of Cape Town.
