Military-approved RF inductors

13 April 2011 Passive Components

Gowanda Electronics recently introduced two inductor series meeting the US military’s qualified products list requirements for ‘established reliability’. The ER10M and ER17S through-hole RF inductor series are approved to MIL-PRF-39010, Level M. Such ER approval requires extensive life testing across thermal, electrical, mechanical and environmental test spectra.

ER10M is a wirewound, moulded design approved for MIL-PRF-39010 slash 08, 09 and 10. Performance figures includes: inductance from 0,10 μH to 1000 μH; Q Min from 25 to 55; SRF Min from 3,4 to 680 MHz; DCR Max from 0,08 to 72 Ω; and current rating from 28 to 1350 mA d.c. Operating temperature is -55°C to 125°C for /08 and -55°C to 105°C for /09 and /10.

ER17S is a wirewound, moulded, shielded design approved for MIL-PRF-39010 slash 01, 02 and 03. It boasts inductance from 0,10 μH to 1000 μH; Q Min from 40 to 60; SRF Min from 3,8 to 250 MHz; DCR Max from 0,025 to 17,5 Ω; and current rating from 70 to 1790 mA d.c. Operating Temperature is -55°C to 105°C.

The new inductors were designed for RF applications in military, aerospace and defence communities. This includes use in communication, guidance and security applications, as well as in radar, test and evaluation, and special mission applications.
