400 W power supplies

27 April 2011 Power Electronics / Power Management

XP Power’s FCM400 is a series of single-output, 400 W AC-DC power supplies suitable for a wide range of industrial and medical applications.

Having an enclosed, low-noise fan and measuring just 152,4 x 101,6 x 49,0 mm, the units have a power density of 0,85 Watts per cubic centimetre and a typical efficiency rating of 85%.

The units provide peak power capability up to 600 W for 0,5 seconds, important for applications that might draw a higher current for a short period, and enables the customer to specify the unit in place of a larger higher rated unit. Medical applications that might demand high peak power include respiratory appliances, surgical equipment and hospital beds. Accommodating the input range of 80–275 V a.c., the family comprises six models with nominal outputs of +12, +15, +24, +28, +36, or +48 V d.c. An output trim allows an adjustment of ±10% to suit non-standard voltage requirements and compensate for any voltage drops in the end system.

A +5 V d.c., 0,5 A always on standby output provides a supply for logic and memory functions without the need to design-in an additional voltage source. Remote on/off, AC OK and power fail signals provide basic monitor and control functions when integrating into the end system. A 3 year warranty is provided as standard.

The series meets the electrical safety standards of both IEC 60601-1/UL 60601-1 for medical equipment and IEC 60950-1/UL 60950-1 for industrial and IT equipment. The series also complies with EN 55022/EN55011 specifications for Class B conducted and Class A radiated emissions without the need of additional filtering components.
