Locally developed key/asset management system

3 August 2011 News

Incomar and the Technology Station in Electronics (TSE) recently delivered a locally developed key and asset management system known as Crypta to the dti. During a small handover function held at the dti, three Crypta key and asset management systems (CKAM) were supplied to manage the whereabouts and safety of the dti’s keys. The TSE, as part of the Technology Station programme of the TIA, supported Incomar in the industrialisation of the CKAM.

The project demonstrates the kind of successful collaboration that can be achieved between the industry and the technology station programme. Following the success of this system, a rifle control cabinet has been developed and will be launched at the IFSEC 2011 show at Gallagher Estate in September.

The CKAM is a secure, computer controlled key/asset management system. The standalone unit authorises the client’s access to the key/asset through a computer controlled touch screen by identifying them with a password and PIN number. This standalone unit can be linked via the Internet to a master controller system that can be situated anywhere with Internet connectivity. Biometric devices can also be added for another layer of protection. A cellphone interface to manage the keys is also under development.
