Digital storage oscilloscopes

31 August 2011 Test & Measurement

Good Will Instrument has released two new digital storage oscilloscope series, the GDS-1000-U and the GDS-1000-A-U, to fulfil the need for high-quality, affordable DSOs in the educational and service markets.

The general purpose, 2-channel instruments inherit all the features from GW Instek’s GDS-1000 and GDS-1000A series. They include a USB interface and added firmware features such as go/no-go, data-logger and zoom FFT (GDS-1000A-U only). The bandwidth of entry level models has been raised from 25 MHz to 50 MHz for the GDS-1000-U series, and from 60 MHz to 70 MHz for the GDS-1000A-U series.

The GDS-1000-U series includes 100 MHz, 70 MHz and 50 MHz models. With real-time sampling rate of 250 MSps, ET sampling rate of 25 GSps, 4k point record length per channel, and 5,7” colour TFT LCD display, the DSO provides a balance of performance and cost for users needing basic time domain measurements. Other features include user-friendly operation, compact size, durable design, USB host port support and USB device port for PC connectivity.

The GDS-1000A-U series, including 150 MHz, 100 MHz and 70 MHz models, provides a solution for high sampling and long memory applications. It boasts a real-time sampling rate of 1 GSps and 2M point record length. The system’s MemoryPrime technology backbone leverages its high sampling rate and long memory to provide powerful waveform capture capability.
