Handheld power analyser

12 October 2011 Test & Measurement

The DW-6092 from Lutron is a handheld three-phase power analyser with a 320 x 240 pixel display measuring 81,4 x 61 mm. It is supplied standard with three clamp adaptors, making it suitable for testing single-phase as well as three-phase circuits in both 3-wire and 4-wire configurations.

The unit is capable of measuring voltage and current with true RMS values. The true power ranges from 0,000 kW to 9,999 MW in four ranges, while also measuring apparent and reactive power. There is the possibility of measuring Watt-hour, phase angle, frequency and power factor in auto or manual range. The voltage range is from 10 to 600 V, while the current range is from 0,2 A to 1200 A with the use of the clamp adaptors.

There is a built-in clock and calendar, making the DW-6092 capable of real-time data recording with a sampling time of about 1 second, storing the results on an SD card which can be slotted into a computer for later analysis in Excel format. The sampling time can be set from 2 to 7200 seconds.

Besides the three clamp adaptors with frequency range of 40 Hz to 1 kHz, the tester is supplied with test leads, four alligator clips, 9 V adaptor, a carry bag and two SD memory cards. Optional accessories include a USB cable and data acquisition software.
