Visitors to RF Design’s stand (H6) can learn about Tibbo’s EM500EV Evaluation System for testing the EM500 BASIC-programmable embedded module. Tibbo BASIC offers a fully functional serial-over-IP application that can be tested on the EM500EV. Written in Tibbo BASIC, the application is compatible with Tibbo Device Server Toolkit software, comes with complete source code, and can be modified by the user. The EM500EV consists of the EM500EV-MB0 motherboard with EM500 module, as well as the EM500EV-IB0 RS232 interface board. The motherboard features a power jack and a switching regulator with 3,3 V output. This 3,3 V power is supplied to the EM500 and is also provided on the interface board connector. Green and red dual-function LEDs are used for Ethernet link status indication.

The Nordic nRF24L01+ is a highly integrated, ultra low power (ULP) 2 Mbps RF transceiver IC for the 2,4 GHz ISM band. With peak RX/TX currents lower than 14 mA, a sub-μA power down mode, advanced power management, and a 1,9 to 3,6 V supply range, the device provides a true ULP solution enabling months to years of battery life from coin cell or AA/AAA batteries. The ‘Enhanced ShockBurst’ hardware protocol accelerator offloads time-critical protocol functions from the application microcontroller, enabling the implementation of advanced and robust wireless connectivity with low-cost third-party microcontrollers. The nRF24L01+ integrates a complete 2,4 GHz RF transceiver, RF synthesiser, and baseband logic including the protocol accelerator supporting a high-speed SPI interface for the application controller.
