In-vehicle computers, remote monitoring computers and computers in harsh environments require motherboards that can withstand extreme temperatures. Extremely low temperatures can cause CPUs to freeze, both literally and figuratively. At the other end of the scale, high temperatures can cause permanent damage to the CPU, which necessitates replacement of the CPU or motherboard.
Centurion Micro Electronics can offer a range of wide-temperature motherboards that are rated from -40°C to 85°C. Available in Epic, 3,5” SBC (single-board computer), PC/104 and PC/104 Plus, ETX, XTX and COM Express formats, these boards can be used in many applications.
Example offerings include the EasyBoard-841E, a 3,5” format board with soldered onboard Intel Core 2 Duo L7500 processor, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports and memory capacity up to 2 GB. It offers dual channel 24-bit LVDS and analog RGB, as well as support for dual independent displays. Interfaces include two x SATA, one x PATA, six x USB, one x Mini PCI socket, two x serial ports and one x CF socket.
Also available is the Epic format EPIC-747E with soldered onboard Intel Atom N455 processor and 2 GB DDR3 memory. The board has dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, analog RGB and single-channel 18-bit LVDS display. Expansion ports include two x SATA, one x PATA, eight x USB, five x serial ports, one x Mini PCI socket and one x Mini-card socket, as well as an integrated SIM socket to support mobile telecommunication.
