Robust rocker switch

7 March 2012 Switches, Relays & Keypads

Marquardt has introduced the 3250 series rocker switch, aiming it at applications such as off-road vehicles, where absolute reliability and ease of operation is expected of components and assemblies, even under extreme circumstances.

The rocker switch is characterised by the adoption of robust technology. Due to the adoption of the high dust and water protection (IP 66 and IP 68) it can function in harsh environments. Its snap-action switch principle and integrated self-cleaning by the friction of contacts with each other, ensure quality and reliability of the switch. The turning point of the tongue moves on an arc during operation, thereby causing a relative movement between the movable and the fixed contact. The resulting shear force can easily eliminate dirty spots.

Up to four LEDs – for the purposes of background and functional lighting – can be integrated in the switch. To provide a more attractive design, all the keycaps are coated with different colours, and marked with different symbols via laser marking. The mechanical lifespan of the rocker switch is 500 000 switching cycles.

On request, Marquardt can implement a locking function to prevent unintentional activation. In addition, accessories such as mounting frame, blank pieces and indicator lights are available. The switch is therefore suitable for window lifters, all kinds of ventilators, blowers, servo motors, pumps and serves as electronic signal lights etc.
