Rugged panel potentiometer

7 March 2012 Passive Components

Vishay announced a new cermet panel potentiometer that features long life to 2 million cycles and full IP67 sealing for reliable operation in extreme environmental conditions.

Featuring a heavy-duty construction, the Sfernice P13L is optimised for use as a voltage divider operator interface for military applications, cameras, night-vision devices, and portable industrial or professional equipment requiring operator setting.

The potentiometer is available in six bushing options and body sizes of 12,6 mm, 14 mm and 16 mm. Bushing L and N feature life of 2 million cycles, while bushing T, Q, O and P offer 1 million cycles. The P13L offers a high power rating to 1,5 W at +70°C, tight TCR of ±150 ppm/°C typical, and standard resistance values of 1 kΩ, 5 kΩ, 10 kΩ and 50 kΩ. The device’s cermet element provides better stability than carbon elements, while its 2000 VRMS dielectric strength offers high reliability and robustness.

The P13L’s high stability and independent linearity of ±5% are guaranteed for the full life of the device. The potentiometer is available in 3 mm, 4 mm and 6 mm shaft diameters and multiple shaft lengths. Compliant to RoHS directive 2002/95/EC and tested in accordance to CECC 41000 or IEC 60393-1, the device offers an operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C to ensure reliable operation in high-temperature environments.
