Power line filters

2 May 2012 Circuit & System Protection

With current ratings ranging from 3 A up to 30 A and with low leakage current, TE Connectivity’s Corcom HZ series of power line filters complies with strict medical industry standards. The 30 A version is the company’s highest amperage of power line filters approved for medical applications.

Corcom HZ series filters offer solid attenuation from 10 kHz to 30 MHz and provide strong differential mode performance to effectively suppress line-to-line interference. They feature touch-proof terminals which reduce the risk of an accidental electric shock. An insulated mating terminal is required for style 1 versions, while style 6 variants require an insulating boot.

The filters are suitable for medical applications such as ultrasound, patient monitoring and surgical, therapeutic and interventional procedures. They can also be used in industrial applications with ground fault interrupters.

UL recognised, CSA certified and VDE approved, HZ series filters offer a maximum rated voltage of 250 V a.c. Maximum leakage current for each line to ground is 2 A at 120 V a.c. 60 Hz and 5 A at 250 V a.c. 50 Hz. Hipot rating (one minute) is 2250 V d.c. (line to ground) and 1450 V d.c. (line to line). The devices have been designed for an operating temperature range from -10°C to +40°C.
