The wave soldering process is one of the most challenging procedures to set up. The ECD WaveRIDER NL 2 greatly simplifies wave solder setup and ensures repeatability. Board recipe preheat temperatures, conveyor speed, wave height, contact times and parallelism are all measured and monitored using the system process pallet.
Since many companies nowadays have lost through-hole soldering expertise over time through attrition, the WaveRIDER kit has much of this intelligence built in to exceed quality demands and reduce rework headaches. The system allows users to tune their wave solder machine and keep it production worthy, and quantifies machine parameters so they can be controlled.
WaveRIDER provides Go/No-Go data to operators as a first-off tool, helping to eliminate guesswork and tighten the maintenance protocol. Key parameters that are measured and can be controlled include preheat ramp, delta-T at wave, solder temperature, top and bottom side board temperature, immersion depth, wave parallelism and conveyor speed. A Fluxometer can be added to tune the spray fluxer for proper top-side fillet formation.
