Flex cable jumpers

13 June 2012 Interconnection

Available in a variety of pitches, cable lengths and thicknesses, with high-temperature ratings up to +105°C, Molex’s Premo-Flex FFC and etched polyimide jumpers deliver durable, highly flexible solutions for PCB connections in virtually any industry.

The complete line of 0,50, 1,00 and 1,25 mm pitch flat flex cable (FFC) jumpers, available in cable thickness options of 0,12, 0,14, 0,22 and 0,27 mm, offers standard lengths, pitches and circuit sizes to solve complex board-to-board interconnection challenges in compact/hard-to-reach applications.

The jumpers in ultra-thin, ultra-flexible 0,12 mm cable have an extended flex life of 900 000 cycles vs. standard jumper flex life of 6000 cycles. Premo-Flex polyimide jumpers with etched-copper circuitry achieve the tight tolerances required for reliable connections to fine pitch, 0,30 mm microminiature connectors, that standard copper wire FFC jumpers cannot.

Off-the-shelf jumpers avoid custom tooling costs and reduce lead times. In addition, Molex can accommodate custom requirements for jumpers in lengths of over 305 mm. The jumpers are terminated to zero insertion force (ZIF), non-ZIF or low insertion force (LIF) FFC connectors, available from Molex. Type A (same-side) and Type D (opposite-side) contact layouts allow for mirrored contacts in top- and bottom-mount applications.
