One-piece interfaces

13 June 2012 Interconnection

With the latest addition of the SCA Series, Samtec’s product line of one-piece interfaces provides high performance with increased design flexibility suitable for almost any application. Rugged products are available with screw mount and other mechanical hold-down options for high shock and vibration applications, as well as optional alignment pins on both top and bottom for precise placement.

The SCA series high-density array is designed with spring loaded pins for high-cycle test environments and ease of mating and unmating. A reliable connection and the elimination of bent pins provide an interface with improved quality over elastomers and other pin and socket systems. Additionally, these robust interfaces reduce costs by requiring the handling and processing of only one component.

Micro 1,00 mm pitch one-piece interfaces are available in a 1,65 mm profile with up to 30 contacts on a single row (SEI series). A choice of 3 mm, 6 mm and 10 mm elevated stack heights are available on a 1,00 mm pitch single or double row interface (FSI series) with up to 100 total contacts.

The high-density one-piece interface (SCA series), integrated with Plastronics’ spring-loaded H-Pin contact, is designed for high-cycle test and measurement applications. The 1,00 mm pitch interface features a 3,60 mm stack height and is available with up to 320 total spring-loaded contacts.

A high-density one-piece array (GFZ series) is available with up to 900 dual compression contacts on a 1,27 mm pitch and a choice of 1,65 mm or 3 mm low-profile stack heights. This interface is ideal for board stacking, module-to-board and LGA interfaces.

One-piece interfaces on a 2,54 mm pitch are available in vertical or right-angle orientations for signal or power applications. The vertical interface (SIB series) has a stack height of 3,81 mm with up to 30 contacts and optional locking clips. Up to 15 contacts are available on the right-angle interface (SIR1 series). Additionally, Samtec offers a 1,27 mm pitch interface (SIBF series) with large 1 mm contact deflection on 5, 10, 20 or 25 contacts and a 3 mm stack height.
