High-power laser bars
13 June 2012
Opto-Electronics
Osram Opto Semiconductors’ new range of laser bars offer efficiency of up to 65% at 200 W optical output power.
Laserline, one of the leading manufacturers of diode lasers for industrial material processing, now also makes full use of these advantages. Laser bars from Osram are the core of Laserline’s latest and most powerful fibre-coupled diode laser series. The complete system is water cooled and supplies between 2 and 15 kW via a fibre with a core diameter of 1 to 2 mm. Its overall efficiency reaches maximum levels of more than 40%.
The laser bar series SPL BKxx- 40WFT produces infrared radiation in various wavelengths, ranging from 915 to 1020 nm. As a result of their high efficiency values, the bars achieve a long operating lifetime, thus meeting the requirements for industrial laser systems. Besides the optical pumping of fibre lasers, direct material processing, e.g. welding and cutting of metals in the automotive industry, is one of the main applications of infrared lasers with more than 1 kW power.
