Constant-current LED power supply

11 July 2012 Power Electronics / Power Management

For low-wattage applications in the indoor/decorative lighting market, Mean Well has launched the PLD-16 series of 16 W AC-DC LED power supplies with power factor correction.

The units can be used in 115 or 230 V a.c. utility power regions, and also accommodates the 277 V a.c. mains power system in North America. With constant-current output, the efficiency of these new models is as high as 86%, allowing them to operate between -30°C and +50°C using only free air convection.

The power supplies are semi-potted for PCB protection (to IP30 level) to provide the basic ability of anti-moisture, anti-dust as well as for heat conduction purposes. With double-insulated, two-wire input design, the LED drivers are enclosed in a plastic case with 94V-0 fire prevention level, which can protect the user against electric shock.

The PLD-16 series complies with global certificates per UL8750, EN61347-2-13 and EN62384, and also meet with major lighting regulations such as CE and FCC.
