Mean Well has expanded its railway power supply family with the introduction of the RSD-300 series for applications requiring up to 300 W.
Featuring a 2:1 (±40%) input range and 4000 V d.c. input/output isolation, the units are characterised by 5 G anti-vibration ability and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C. They feature protections for short circuit, overload, output over-voltage, over-temperature and input reverse polarity, as well as a built-in constant current limiting circuit and 40 mm low-profile design for 1U compliance.
The RSD-300 series is semi-encapsulated for PCB protection to provide the basic ability of anti-moisture, anti-dust, heat dissipation and anti-vibration. This allows them to stay cool without forced air in ambient temperatures between 40°C to +70°C, making them relevant for applications in harsh environments.
The power supplies have efficiency as high as 91% and comply with ITE standards (IEC60950-1 and EN55022) and railway certificates (EN50155, IEC60571, IEC61373, EN50121-3-2), so that they are suitable to be used in all kinds of vehicles equipped with a DC power source.
Applications include railway, metro rapid transit system, subway, bus, leisure trailer and vessel etc. In addition, along with external batteries as the energy source, they are also suitable for harsh industrial installations subject to dust and moisture, such as security systems, DC UPS systems and telecom equipment.
