Multilayer varistors have ultra-low capacitance

Matsushita has released chip-type multilayer varistors with ultra-low capacitance (3 pF max) in the 1005 size. These devices protect against ESD and are suited for the high frequency circuits of small mobile devices.

As the demand for information and communications devices is growing, the electronic devices have more advanced functions, a more compact size, and higher frequency circuits. At the same time, measures against static electricity have been increasingly required for small mobile devices.

Matsushita varistor model in 1005 size (1,0 x 0,5 x 0,5 mm) can withstand static discharge to IEC61000-4-2 Level 4 rating, and is equivalent to the company's model 1608 size.
