Ku band waveguide LNA

19 September 2012 Analogue, Mixed Signal, LSI

The AMFW-6S-12601520-90-WR62 is MITEQ’s newesthigh-performance waveguide LNA for Ku-band. It is weatherproof and features low noise and high dynamic range, operating from 12,65 GHz to 15,2 GHz.

The device includes a pressure-sealed WR62 waveguide input and SMA (F) output. It includes reverse voltage, overcurrent and overtemperature protection in addition to full internal regulation.

The LNA’s aluminium alloy housing is sealed against severe environmental conditions. Its total weight is approximately 270 grams, and dimensions are 53 x 33 x 33 mm.

The AMFW-6S-12601520-90-WR62 has a typical noise temperature of 80K, with a maximum of 90K, and it is capable of a minimum 10 dBm of P1dB across the full band, with an available option of 20 dBm. Noise temperature will typically change with base temperature of the LNA at a rate of 0,28 K/°C.

Output IP3 is 20 dBm minimum, while input VSWR is a maximum of 1,5:1 and output port VSWR is a maximum of 2:1. Small-signal gain is 50 dB typical and flatness is 2,0 dB peak-to-peak with a maximum gain ripple of 0,4 dB/40 MHz within the whole band.

The device’s gain variation with temperature is less than 0,08 dB/°C; over time the gain is stable to less than 0,4 dB/month. Total group delay is constant to less than 1 ns over the full band. Current draw is nominally 200 mA from a single +12 V to 24 V supply; other voltage ranges and alarm options are available, as is an alarm feature. Operating temperature is -40°C to +60°C case.
