Powerful multimedia platform

1 August 2001 Computer/Embedded Technology

Advantech's new QNX-compatible PCM-5820 Series includes an 88 mm palm-size SBC with an on-board 586 class NS GXM-233 processor or low-power GXM-200. On-board features include VGA/LCD, LVDS, audio, 10/100Base-T Ethernet and a CompactFlash card socket. QNX can be booted from the IDE interface CompactFlash card, eliminating the need for a hard drive. This board is an ideal solution for space-critical applications.

The PCM-5820E combines a new switching power supply with the low-power GXM-200 processor, which reduces power consumption and operating temperature. Combined with on-board LVDS that extends LCD panel distance to 12 m and supports either 18 or 36 bit resolutions up to 1024 x 768 TFT LCD, the PCM-5820E is a powerful multimedia platform suited for an array of embedded applications.
