RS232 to RS422/485 interface converter with software

Computer/Embedded Technology
Sealevel Systems' RS232 to RS422/485 interface converter allows a standard RS232 port to communicate with an individual RS422 device or with multiple devices within a RS485 network. The IC485 supports RS422 full duplex mode as well as RS485 full or half duplex master and slave modes. This gives the user flexibility in configuring the device to meet specific application needs. Onboard LEDs are included to indicate that the device is properly powered and also illuminate when the device is transmitting and receiving to assist in verifying acceptable communications. A six-position screw terminal block on the board provides connection to external devices. Provisions for strain relief are made within the case by a cable clamp/screw combination.
The included Sealevel Software solves a common problem with most RS232 to RS422/485 interface converters. Sealevel enhanced the Windows COM: drivers to provide RTS software control for the IC485 when in RS485 RTS mode. Windows abstracts the user from the hardware, therefore implementing features not supported by the standard Windows COM:driver requires custom software development.
