ME bus housings for parallel or series feedthrough

15 August 2001 Interconnection

The ME bus housings from Phoenix Contact are designed to make bus connections easy and save time. A cross-connector anchored in the bottom of the housing makes the connections when the housings are simply aligned and snap-mounted on standardised mounting rails.

The five or 10-pin cross-connector can be used equally for transmission of bus signals and for power supply. By using two additional contacts, serial transmission is possible in addition to the parallel connection. This means that the input signals can be processed by way of the PCB. Gold-plated contacts guarantee high transmission reliability, with the former complex parallel wiring no longer being needed.

To allow the electronic devices to be configured, the housing upper part and the PCB can be withdrawn as a complete unit, without interruption of the bus connection. The ME bus housings with the additional series contacts can be supplied in widths of 17,5 or 22,5 mm. The connection method can be selected from permanent printed-circuit terminal blocks or plug connectors in either screw or spring-cage versions, for conductors up to 2,5 mm2.
