Network power analyser

3 April 2013 Test & Measurement

Magnet has extended its range of test and measurement devices to include the A-eberle PQ-Box 200, which is a network power analyser, power meter and transient recorder in one instrument.

The compact tester has been designed for reliability, easy operation and portability. It is shockproof, has a waterproof housing and is suitable for measurements in all applications, including tough environments like installation category CAT IV. The PQ-Box 200 measures voltage quality according to stringent international standards for low-, medium- and high-voltage networks.

The instrument, with an external power supply, has application specific settings which are easy to program. A number of triggering options enables quick location of the fault. A USB 2.0 interface is available to transfer the data. This instrument has a standard data memory of 1 GB which can be extended to 32 GB. Measurement values can be stored for a period of up to a year.

A clear colour display provides information about correct measurement cable and current clamp connection and shows on-line data for voltage, current, THD and power. The number of events that have occurred during operation and the recorded measurement duration are also displayed.

An unlimited number of measurements can be made consecutively, without the need to output to previous ones first. A manual trigger button enables recording of the current network status of a system in the form of an oscilloscope trace and 10 ms RMS values. Eight keys can be used to scroll the display and to adjust the settings of the device, for example, transformers in the medium- and high-voltage networks.

Evaluation software, which offers numerous evaluation options like load analysis, troubleshooting in the network and automatic EN 50160 reports or NRS048 templates, can be installed on an unlimited number of PCs.

The PQ-Box 200 detects the connected current-clamp set via a coding in the plug and sets the correct measurement ranges. The device does not need to be informed of the transformer mounting ratio.
