10 W DC-DC converters

3 April 2013 Power Electronics / Power Management

XP Power announced the JCA10 series of single- and dual-output 10 Watt metal cased DC-DC converters, bringing the product family’s coverage to 2, 3, 4, 6 and 10 Watt models.

Packaged in a compact format measuring 25,4 x 20,3 x 10,0 mm, the JCA10 series has a footprint 20% smaller than other DIP-24 devices available on the market. Occupying less PCB space than conventional designs allows designers to reduce the size of new developments or utilise the board space for additional features, while the industry standard DIP-24 pin-out makes the converter a suitable drop-in replacement for existing designs.

Accommodating a 2:1 input range, the converters offer a choice of four nominal input voltages of 5, 12, 24 and 48 V d.c. Inputs are 4,5–9,0 V d.c., 9–18 V d.c., 18–36 V d.c. or 36–75 V d.c. with under-voltage lockout as standard. For each input voltage, single-output models offer +3,3, +5, +12 or +15 V d.c. outputs while the dual-output versions provide ±5, ±12 or ±15 V d.c.

Outputs are fully regulated, varying no more than ±0,3% over all input conditions, and less than ±1,0% across all load conditions. The JCA series offer basic input to output isolation rated at 1500 V d.c. and case to input or output is 500 V d.c.

Suitable for a wide variety of application environments, the converters operate from -40°C to +100°C with no derating until +70°C. No additional heatsinking or forced air cooling is required and maximum case temperature is +100°C.

The series has UL/CSA and EN 60950-1 internationally recognised safety approvals pending and meets EN55022 level A conducted and level B radiated emissions without the need for any additional components. It comes with a 3-year warranty.
