Webb gains agency for communications cables

News
Webb Industries has secured the rights to be the exclusive distributor of Superior Essex communications cable products in southern Africa. Superior Essex is a world leader in outside plant (OSP) copper communications wire and cable products, which are used for voice and data transmission. It also manufactures fibre-optic cables and specialist copper cables, mainly for ICT and industrial use.
One of the products that Webb will focus on initially is the BBD Category 5e OSP cable (pictured) designed to provide extension of the LAN beyond the premises. The core is filled with PFM thixotropic filling compound to prevent water ingress. PFM gel suits multiple environmental conditions and will not drip even in cell tower applications at elevated temperatures. All forms of this product are suitable for buried applications.
Applications include 10BASE-T through 1000BASE-T Ethernet; ATM and token ring; WiMAX cell towers; BBDNe: lashed aerial, underground conduit or low-risk direct burial; and BBDGe: direct burial where additional mechanical protection is required.
