Advanced 19" rack cases

OKW has produced an advanced range of 19" rack cases - the Mettec series. These enclosures are available in three sizes - 1U, 2U and 3U - conforming to DIN 41494 and IEC 297-1 standards.

OKW set out to combine good looks with high protection, particularly with regard to EMC, as well as making sure the cases can withstand heavy duty applications. For example, the case body is finished in Alocrom 1200 to provide superior EMC protection. Innovations in the design include removable front panels, which can be detached from the case while it is still in the rack, whereas other rack cases have to be removed first. The robust and aesthetic front bezel also includes unique 'comfort handles'. These handles have been ergonomically-designed to be far more comfortable than common 'D' type handles, and make loading the case into the rack much easier for the user.

Internal guides in the side extrusions provide mounting for PCBs and chassis assemblies.

The front panels are also recessed to take membrane keypads. The front bezel is painted grey (RAL 7035) to match popular 19" rack systems. The construction consists of die-castings and extrusion profiles with flat top and base panels. There are no visible fixings on the front or sides of the cases to provide a professional finish unit. Fitting a Mettec case into a rack is simple using the 3 mm mounting ears incorporated into the bezel.
