Transient voltage suppressors

9 October 2013 Circuit & System Protection

Central Semiconductor has released two new transient voltage suppression (TVS) devices in compact surface mount packages with 5,0 V operation and 0,9 pF capacitance.

The CMYTVS5-2 is a 2-line TVS diode array packaged in the SOT-543 case. With its low capacitance, this device was designed to protect two high-speed data or transmission lines from over-voltage transients and ESD damage. It features 15 kV ESD protection, low clamping voltage and low idle power consumption.

Applications include USB 2.0 power and data line protection, HDMI interfaces, Digital Video Interface (DVI) and Ethernet ports.

The second product, the CFTVS5V0LC, is a low-leakage, fast-response TVS in the SOD-882L package. It is designed to protect sensitive equipment connected to high-speed data lines from ESD damage, and provides peak power dissipation (8 x 20 s) of 12 W and ESD voltage (IEC 61000-4-2, air) of 15 kV.

Applications include high-speed data line protection, user interface protection, charging/power port protection and DC power rail clamping.
