High-bright LEDs

12 September 2001 Opto-Electronics

High-end LED applications such as exterior lighting, automotive electronics, traffic signs or incandescent lamp replacement, above all require superior luminous flux. Vishay, a long-term partner of EBV, developed the Telux series of high-brightness LEDs. Telux offers clear, nondiffused light, supreme heat dissipation, high operating temperatures and very small mechanical tolerances that allow precise use of external reflectors or lightguides.

The Telux series is a clear, nondiffused LED for high-end applications where supreme luminous flux is required. It is designed in an industry standard 7,62 mm square package utilising highly developed (AS) AllnGaP and InGaN technologies. The supreme heat dissipation of Telux allows applications at high ambient temperatures up to +125°C. (heat dissipation RthJP = 90 K/W). The LED type TLWR meets SAE and ECE colour requirements. To work in rough environments Telux LEDs withstand ESD voltage >2 kV according to Mil-Std-833D, Method 3015.7 for AllnGaP and voltages 1 kV for InGaN. All packing units are binned for luminous flux and colour to achieve best homogenous light appearance in applications like exterior lighting, dashboard illumination, tailstop and turn signals of motor vehicles. Telux LEDs are also good for replacement of incandescent lamps or traffic signals and signs.
