The Proteus Design Suite is a schematic capture and printed circuit board design package which also features enhanced circuit simulation capabilities. Labcenter Electronics’ embedded software co-simulation technology allows microcontrollers to be simulated together with any analog and digital circuitry which is connected to them (such as buttons, potentiometers and LCDs) in real time.
EasyPIC7 from MikroElektronika is a full-featured development system which supports over 250 microcontrollers, including both 5 V and 3,3 V PICs. Each port of the microcontroller is exposed via a 10-pin header (eight port pins, power and ground); with each port pin also connected to both an LED and a button, as well as an optional pull-up or pull-down resistor. A variety of add-on accessory boards are also available.
A number of peripherals are also included on the EasyPIC7 board, such as 7-segment, LCD and GLCD displays, touch panel, USB, RS-232, temperature sensor connectors and more. An onboard programmer with hardware in-circuit debugging support, and switched-mode power supply are also included on the board. Similar development systems are available for other microcontroller types, such as AVR, ARM and 8051.
Also from MikroElektronika, the MikroMedia range of boards are compact, multimedia-focused development systems. Although each board measures just 6 x 8 cm, they are packed with features including a 320x240 TFT colour display with touch screen, USB, micro-SD card socket, accelerometer and stereo audio codec with headphone jack.
Various accessories are available for MikroMedia boards, such as a prototyping shield and lithium-polymer battery (the board features a built-in charger). The boards are available for various microcontroller variants, including PIC, PIC24, dsPIC33, PIC32, AVR and ARM. Each board ships with example code which demonstrates each feature of the board.
