PSU for outdoor use in indirect rain

12 March 2014 Power Electronics / Power Management

In response to the demands of LED lighting applications for channel letters and advertising signs, Mean Well has launched new enclosed power supplies with constant voltage output.

With an aluminium enclosure and heat dissipation holes with an anti-rain splash design, the ERP-350 series can be installed in outdoor environments with suitable canopy coverage.

The power supplies are semi-potted by glue on PCB, and provide heat dissipation and protection for internal electronic components against dust and moisture, as well as shock absorption to withstand 3 G vibration.

The ERP-350 features a 180 – 264 V a.c. input range and offers 24, 36 or 48 V d.c. output voltage. With up to 90% efficiency, it can be cooled by free air convection from -30°C to +40°C ambient temperature, and up to +60°C given suitable derating.

Standard functions include trimming output voltage (±10%) and protection against short circuit, overload, over-voltage and over-temperature. The series complies with CB/UL (CQC pending) certificates that ensure user safety. Suitable applications include LED channel letters, decorative lighting using LED strips, LED displays…etc.
