Single-row cable connector system

12 March 2014 Interconnection

ERNI’s new iBridge is a single-row cable connector system in the pitch of 2,0 mm. It is engineered for every board-to-cable application concern, including severe vibration, and is especially suitable for use in highly demanding systems that require reliability and robust connections. It is ideal for automotive, LED, telecommunications and data transmission devices.

Despite its small dimensions, iBridge offers a high current carrying capacity of up to 5 A per contact (at 20°C, depending on the cable). Customers may choose from standard pin counts of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 8, and operation is guaranteed from -55°C to +125°C.

For male connectors, contacts without postbending process ensure robustness and co-planarity. Engineers can select DIP solder termination for extra mechanical strain relief, or SMT termination with durable solder brackets for maximum PCB real estate usage as well as high PCB retention force. SMT termination co-planarity is guaranteed to be less than 0,10 mm on all contacts.

The female connectors are designed with crimp technology, where the crimp contacts are configured for AWG #22 and #24 conductors, and are provided as a finished cable assembly. Latches on both sides of the female connectors provide positive locking and audible feedback.

The male/female connector interlock can easily be released without using a tool. The plastic housing is made of high temperature resisting, halogen free material. Its natural coloured housing can minimise light energy absorption. Male connectors are delivered in tube packaging; tape and reel packaging with pick-and-place cap for fully automatic SMT assembly is also available.
