Constant current LED power supplies

4 June 2014 Power Electronics / Power Management

Mean Well has introduced new 12 W and 25 W LED power supplies with integrated power factor correction. Featuring a 110 – 295 V a.c. input range and constant current design, the PLM-12 and PLM-25 series are available in four output current options ranging from 350 to 1050 mA.

The units attain power factors in excess of 0,9 and comply with harmonic current limitation per EN61000-3-2 Class C. They feature no-load power consumption below 0,5 W and startup time shorter than 500 ms, which comply with the ErP regulation required by the European Union for lighting fixtures.

The PLM-12/25 series’ 87% efficiency allows them to work between -30°C and +45°C or up to +50°C with free air convection, making them suitable for high-temperature working environments in closed lighting systems. Enclosed by UL 94V-0 rated plastic case and Class II double isolation AC input design (without FG), they can effectively prevent users from electrical shock.

The I/O terminals are designed with screwless clamp style terminal blocks, which allows users a more convenient wiring installation. In addition, the power supplies have built-in short circuit protection and comply with global lighting certificates per ENEC EN61347-2-13, EN62384, UL8750, CB and CE. Suitable applications include all kinds of indoor LED lighting, office lighting, commercial lighting, etc.
