Power Electronics / Power Management
The MAX20002 and MAX20003 are small, synchronous buck converters with integrated high-side and low-side MOSFETs.
Each device is designed to deliver up to 2 A/3 A with input voltages from 3,5 V to 36 V, while using only 15 μA quiescent current at no load. Voltage quality can be monitored by observing the PGOOD signal and operation is possible in dropout by running at 98% duty cycle, making them ideal for automotive applications.
Made by Maxim Integrated, the devices offer fixed output voltages of 5 V/3,3 V, along with the ability to program the output voltage between 1 V and 10 V. Frequency can be programmed using a resistor from 220 kHz to 2,2 MHz. The chips offer a forced fixed-frequency mode and skip mode, and include a pin that can be programmed to turn on/off the spread spectrum to aid EMC management.
Targeted at use in distributed DC power systems, navigation and radio head units, and point-of-load automotive applications in, the MAX20002/3 are available in a 5 x 5 mm, 20-pin TQFN package with exposed pad and require very few external components.
