ESD (electrostatic discharge) wrist straps are antistatic devices used to safely ground a person working on sensitive electronic equipment. This serves to dissipate a build-up of static electricity, which can damage electronic components.
ESD workstations provide operators with a safe environment in which to work. Mats usually have a ground cord to provide a solid path to ground, but sometimes more than one operator needs a convenient method of grounding their anti-static wrist strap to a single mat. One method of grounding a wrist strap and anti-static dissipative mat is by using a grounding cord.
Identifying a need in the market for a dual grounding cord, Actum Electronics recently designed one to provide a convenient means to ground up to two ESD wrist straps simultaneously, being compatible with both a 7 mm and 10 mm strap.
The cord makes use of a 4,5 m long, premium ‘adaptaground’ straight grounding cord, two receptacles for wrist strap grounding, and a banana plug as termination.
