15" LCD displays now cost-effective

LCD displays have always been too expensive for many applications. In order to save on cost users often select smaller or lower performance LCD displays. This is no longer necessary. A worldwide oversupply of notebook displays has resulted in 15" displays being similarly priced to 6,4" displays.
The MT-3215 is a 15" 18-bit TFT display kit with analog (normal 15-way) VGA input and OSD (on screen display). OSD is used to set parameters such as brightness, contrast, colours, position etc. The MT-3215 has a specified viewing angle of 160° in both vertical and horizontal directions and has an inherent contrast ratio of 300:1. Resolution for the 15" display is 1024 x 768 pixels.
The raw display, backlight inverter and circuit to convert analog input to digital signals are all contained within a sheet metal housing simplifying the mounting of the display kit in the end user's equipment. The backlight is specified to last 50 000 h - quite a long time.
At R4595 excluding VAT in quantities of 1+, the MT-3215 with analog VGA input is priced very competitively. Other options include CGA or video (NTSC or PAL) inputs and 14" and 17" models are also available.
Using the MT-3215 is very easy. Simply supply power and VGA input as derived from a normal desktop PC to operate the display. To adjust the parameters one enters the OSD menu by pressing a pushbutton and then there is the option of using either the auto-tune feature or a manual process to adjust the picture parameters. If required, a touchscreen can be added and a locally-designed bezel is also available.
