EMC filters get UL and CSA approval

10 October 2001 Circuit & System Protection

The following Epcos filters are used in frequency converters and other power electronics applications. EMC filters of series B84143-B**-S20 (for 150 to 600 A, 480 V), B84143-B**-S21 (150 to 600 A, 760 V) and B84143-B**-S24 (150 to 600 A, 690 V) for IT networks have passed the UL approval tests to UL 1283 and CSA 22.2 No. 8.

Thanks to their compact design, these EMC filters are extremely easy to assemble and can be installed even where space is at a premium. They are distinguished by very low power dissipation and low leakage currents, and have been optimised for full-load operation of electric motors with long leads.

The latest approvals will make it easier to export products containing these filters, especially to the NAFTA countries. In particular, equipment manufacturers will no longer have to have their products approved by UL on the basis of materials lists.
