Two audio amps with high PSRR

National Semiconductor's LM4894 and LM4895 'Boomer' audio amplifiers, optimised for the cellphone market, deliver superior PSRR performance.

This reduces the effect of noise on power supply lines being picked up and intensified by the audio amplifier. When the input is terminated with a 10 Ohm, resistive load, the LM4894/5 deliver 80 dB PSRR at 217 Hz at 3 V. With the input floating they deliver 87 dB PSRR at 217 Hz at 3 V. They have 50 dB of CMRR, a specification not possible in typical BTL configuration amplifiers, claims the manufacturer. The devices are optimised to save power by operating at a low supply voltage (3 V), while still providing sufficient output power (350 mW, 8 Ohm, <1%THD) - suitable for normal listening and speakerphone and ringer tone amplification. The LM4894 and LM4895 are available in 9-bump micro SMD, 10-pin LLP and 10-pin MSOP packaging.
