512 Kb serial EEPROM in 8-lead SOIC

10 October 2001 Analogue, Mixed Signal, LSI

Microchip Technology's industry first 512 Kb I2C serial EEPROM fits into a standard 8-lead SOIC package. The 24LC515 allows users of the company's current 256 Kb devices a migratable upgrade path to higher-density EEPROMs while remaining in the same package. The 24LC515 has a page-write capability of up to 64 bytes of data and is capable of random reads up to the 512 Kb boundary and sequential reads within each of its 256 Kb blocks. Functional address lines allow up to four devices on the same bus, for up to 2 Mb total address space. Additional features include a clock rate of 400 KHz, an operating voltage of 1,8 V-5,5 V, and a temperature range of -40 to +85°C. A faster version of this chip (24FC515) can operate at a bus speed of 1 MHz.
