SynQor announced the release of the MQSA-28-05S, the first in a new series of low-power, high-reliability (Hi-Rel) DC-DC converters. This 5 Watt device is housed in a package measuring 2,73 x 2,73 x 0,69 cm, and was developed specifically for the military/aerospace industry to ensure survivability in the most hostile environments.
The converter accepts a continuous input voltage of 16 - 40 V, and is capable of handling a transient input voltage of 50 V for 1 second (this over-voltage transient complies with a number of relevant military standards.) It operates from -55°C to 125°C baseplate temperature and provides up to 5 Watts of power at a typical efficiency of 80% throughout the temperature profile.
Other functions include an input-side referenced enable, output over-voltage protection, continuous short circuit and overload protection, as well as input under-voltage shutdown. The converter contains no opto-isolators and is available in three different screening levels.
