New from TDK is a range of ultra-compact EPCOS μDC-DC converters featuring a footprint of only 2,9 x 2,3 mm and an insertion height of 1 mm. The B30000P80* series is designed for an input voltage range of 2,2 V and 5,5 V d.c., and encompasses eight types offering output voltages from 1,10 V to 2,80 V.
Featuring maximum output current of 600 mA, the devices embed a 6 MHz power switch on their miniature PCB, and integrate overload protection and automatic shutdown at excess temperatures. Making them attractive for battery-powered devices, they achieve a very high efficiency of 92% and can be shut down via an enable input, dropping supply current to below 1 μA.
Under light loads, the modules operate in power-save mode using PFM (pulse frequency modulation) with a typical quiescent current of 24 μA. They also feature very fast load transient response, while very low ripple voltages and currents allow light loads to be handled without additional filtering.
