Record attendance at international photonics expo
22 July 2015
News
Messe München’s decision to expand this year’s LASER World of Photonics expo to a fifth hall paid dividends as the show enjoyed a roughly 10% increase in both exhibitor and visitor numbers.
Showcased at the world renowned Munich venue from 22 to 25 June, the event for the first time surpassed the milestone of 30 000 visitors.
The exhibition garnered increased interest from the likes of the USA, China and Japan, with far more than half the exhibitors and visitors coming from abroad. More than just an opportunity to see the 1227 exhibitors’ latest technologies, the event concentrated on specific applications areas such as automotive and additive manufacturing, and paid special tribute to young entrepreneurs with the new STARTUP World initiative.
The International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies declared by UNESCO was a thread running through the trade fair as well as the World of Photonics Congress in the International Congress Centre Munich (ICM). The congress drew around 3500 participants and incorporated eight scientific conferences with more than 2700 lectures, four of which were delivered by Nobel Prize winners.
Munich will next host the event from 26 to 29 June 2017.
