Operating from a 380 V d.c. nominal input and delivering an isolated SELV 48 V output, the new VIA BCM from Vicor provides a high level of functional integration in a 9 mm thin, thermally adept module incorporating EMI filtering, transient protection and inrush current limiting. Supplied via Mouser, it provides a 48 V output at up to 1,75 kW and 97,5% peak efficiency.
With the VIA BCM, Vicor’s MHz frequency, soft-switching bus converter technology enables DC-DC front ends with high density and efficiency. The modules can be paralleled to provide multi-kW arrays, provide bidirectional power processing, and support PMBus digital communication capabilities. Utilising a robust and time proven high-voltage DC (HVDC) power conversion technology, they are ideally suited for HVDC distribution in data centres, microgrids, ICT equipment, ATE and industrial systems.
The units integrate system functions including EMI filtering, transient protection and inrush current limiting to reduce design time and design risk. Available in chassis-mount and PCB-mount configurations, they support a multiplicity of mechanical mounting and thermal management options.
Vicor’s online PowerBench design tool suite enables designers to model a complete DC to PoL (point-of-load) power system with a modular power component design methodology. The software provides the ability to quickly configure and visualise end-to-end power systems and dynamically analyse system performance, accelerating design cycles and reducing development costs.
