BCcomponents has extended its range of varistors with the launch of the new smaller 0603 size multilayer varistor (MLV). This MLV is designed for surge suppression applications and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection.
The surface-mount MLV range is now available in the miniaturised 0603 package in line with industry trends in the telecom and automotive markets where smaller varistors are a requirement for inclusion in cellular phones and automobile safety and comfort systems. The MLV is also ideal for use in a wide range of applications including consumer applications such as sound/vision appliances and EDP applications, such as PCs and modems.
The MLV series boasts a number of features such as enhanced circuit protection by having very short response times and inherent bidirectional clamping, low capacitance value (60 to 390 pF) which provides low leakage current and is suitable for wave or reflow soldering allowing flexibility to customers. The MLV is also compliant to IEC 1000-4-2 standards.
