TDK-Semiconductor's most popular all-in-one single chip modem solution is the 73M2901. The single-chip modem combines all the controller and data pump functions necessary to implement intelligent V.22bis and below data modems. It is designed for set-top boxes, credit card readers and other embedded applications, using data transmission and reception through 2400 bps. It requires no microcontroller or external memory and offers options for low power modem designs ranging from 3,3 V to 5 V. The design is based on the company's implementation of the industry standard 8032 microcontroller core with a proprietary coprocessor. Among other features it offers are an 'AT' command set, DTMF tone generation and detection, and adjustable call progress detection filters.
The 73M2902 single-chip modem is specifically designed to address the set-top box market. The device has a full feature set tailored to particularly meet the needs of European service providers. It is capable of ITU-T V.22bis, V.22, V.23, V.23 PAVI and V.21 data mode operation as well as V.42 error correction (LAPM).
