Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe's new MB86292 'Orchid' is the latest family member in its range of graphic display controllers. Orchid incorporates an interface for up to 32 MB of external video memory to suit applications which demand higher memory storage. It also shares the same facilities as the previous 'Scarlet' graphic display controller, including video input functions, scaler and geometry processor. Either of Fujitsu's FCRAM or SDRAM external memory devices are suited for use with the device. The external video input can be used to capture RBT-ITU656 YUV4:2:2 format video signals. Picture-in-picture functions are supported for video image display via the dedicated W-layer and the integrated flexible video scaler enables the adjustment of video input format dimensions.
