DC-DC converters for railway applications

16 May 2018 Power Electronics / Power Management

Traco Power announced the release of its new TMR 3WIR and TMR 6WIR series DC-DC converters, delivering 3 Watts and 6 Watts of power, respectively, and certified for railway applications.

Packaged in an SIP-8 metal case, the design purpose of these series was to offer mini-aturised, low-power DC-DC converters for railway application without scarifying high efficiency. They operate in up to 78°C environmental temperatures at full load, and up to 90°C with a 50% load derating. The converters are available with input ranges of 9 - 160 V d.c. and outputs from 3,3 to ±15 V d.c.

With EN 50155 and UL 60950-1 certification, 3000 V d.c. I/O isolation voltage, external on/off, current limit and short circuit protection, they cover a wide range of applications where space is limited. The input of the converters is designed for a wide voltage range (4:1) and minimum load is not required.
