Profibus IDC switch

13 February 2002 Interconnection

ERNI has extended its established bus-interface connector family with the ERbic Profibus IDC switch. The IDC terminals allow for quick and easy connection of discrete Profibus wires without pre-stripping. No special tooling required.

The Profibus IDC switch includes an integrated switch that allows flexible system design and easy system extension. The external switch, which is recessed and thereby protected from accidental operation enables the termination resistor.

In a network extension, the appropriate active termination connector may easily be switched to node mode without terminating the system. Additionally, while troubleshooting, the appropriate node connector can be terminated and separated from adjacent network participants which allows the remaining system to continue operation without disruption.

Key technical information: external switch to activate and deactivate termination - separates bus participants; visually detectable active or inactive termination switch positions; data rates up to 12 Mbps through integrated SMT inductors; D-Sub Profibus configuration; horizontal cable outlet; a version with a second D-Sub for troubleshooting and servicing is available upon request.
